I’m really excited about the NFL draft coming up here in Green Bay! Everyone in the city has been abuzz with the news for weeks now, and I just can’t wait to see who the team picks in the first and second rounds. The draft is coming up on April 23rd – that’s just a few weeks away!
I’m so curious to see how the team will make out in the draft. Obviously, the Packers have the luck of the draw, with the fourth overall pick. For a small market team like us, that provides a great opportunity to select a top-tier talent capable of making an immediate impact on the field.
I’m sure everyone in the city will be doing their own research and making their own picks for who they’d like to see on the roster. Personally, I’d love to add a wide receiver to the mix. We currently don’t really have anyone in the huddle who can stretch the field or make huge plays in still moments.
At the same time, I know that in this year’s draft, the Packers also have the chance to select some top-notch defensive players, too. Green Bay’s defense hasn’t been at its classic level in recent years, so it’d be great to address that need now. Plus, it will serve up more competition on the team and lead to more exciting action on the field during the season!
The NFL draft is always a nerve-wracking time for sports fans, especially Packers fans. I remember watching the draft in 2019 and all the anticipation that came with it. Now, I get to live through it all again, just with a fresh set of future players.
Another exciting offseason moment is the NFL Combine. While there will be no physical combine this year due to the pandemic, teams will still have the chance to evaluate a lot of the top prospects from their homes.
