When I found out that there is a special month dedicated to honoring military personnel, I was both humbled and proud. What an incredible way to show appreciation to the brave, hardworking men and women who have served our country.
Maybe you weren’t aware, but Military Appreciation Month is celebrated annually in the NFL. This past year, it was observed in September. During the month, games were dedicated to recognizing and saluting the heroes of the United States Armed Forces. As a former serviceman, I was deeply moved by the show of support for our brave men and women in uniform. It was really something special to witness the respect and admiration shown to these heroes.
At one of the Military Appreciation Month games, I was fortunate enough to have the chance to meet some of the players and talk to them about what it meant to them to participate in the event. They were incredibly passionate about honoring the brave men and women who have served our country. They said that it was their pleasure to have the opportunity to do something to express their gratitude for the immense sacrifices they have made. It was truly inspiring to hear them speak so highly of our heroes. It made me proud to be an American and while it is us who should be indebted to them, it was simply humbling to see the NFL have such sincere appreciation of the military.
The league also created a special “Salute to Service” merchandise collection that was available for fans to purchase. This was an awesome way for wholesale jerseys all of us to show our support and honor the military. It was great to see everyone sporting the gear in the stands and hearing cheers of ‘thank you for your service’ vibrating through the air.
The NFL also gave military members and veterans the chance to take part in the ‘Salute to Service’ events. There were no shortage of activities planned to honor the brave heroes that have served our country. I know some of the friends I had been deployed with were able to attend some of the games and were deeply touched by the actions of the NFL.
To top off the Military Appreciation Month festivities, the league also made a sizeable donation to support military charities. This was a great way for the NFL to give back and support those who have given so much. It’s a gesture that will carry on for many years to come.

It’s truly a special occasion that I’m lucky to have the chance to experience and I’m thankful that our heroes are honored in this way.

All of these actions come together to make this a powerful time of appreciation for the sacrifices our servicemen and women make. It’s inspiring to watch everyone come together to show their support.
