Every four years, the NFL receives one of the largest chunks of our hard-earned tax money. To this day, I still can’t believe it! How much money do the NFL, professional football’s governing body, receive from our tax dollars? It’s hard to say for sure, but it’s probably much more than it should be.
I’m personally shocked that so much of my tax money goes to the NFL, a multi-billion-dollar business. It’s also hard to fathom that the league receives such large sums of money while their players get paid millions of dollars to do a job that only requires them to play a game.
Of course, the NFL isn’t the only organization that we fund with our tax dollars. There are plenty of public and private organizations who receive taxpayer money. But, when you consider how much money we give to the NFL, it’s seems outrageous.
At the state and local level, NFL teams receive millions of dollars in taxpayer-funded subsidies, according to a 2018 report by the Gerald Mason Group. The report also found that, at the federal level, more than $90 million in tax credits were given to the NFL in the 2016 fiscal year.
Now, I’m sure that much of this money is going towards things that benefit the public, such as funding for public stadiums, charitable donations, and more, but I can’t help but think that there are other worthy organizations who would benefit more Cheap Jerseys from china the funds than the NFL.
Additionally, the league’s most loyal fan base, the same people whose taxes are funding the NFL, have to give up huge chunks of their income just to go to a game. Tickets can cost hundreds of dollars, and once inside the stadium, refreshments can be outrageously priced.
On a moral level, it also raises a lot of questions. Is it ethical to funnel so much of our hard-earned money into the coffers of a multi-million-dollar business? Is it fair for the NFL to receive such huge sums of tax money, while their players receive salaries of millions of dollars?
I feel like our tax dollars would be best put to use in other areas. Not only would it benefit more people and causes in need, but it would also help reduce the financial burden on taxpayers.
Now imagine how much money would be left in the pockets of taxpayers if the NFL didn’t receive any of it? They already make billions of dollars from broadcast and merchandise deals, ticket sales, and stadium sponsorship. Do they really need to be receiving millions in taxpayer-funded subsidies?
If you ask me, it just doesn’t seem right. People who receive government assistance and cheap jerseys families living paycheck to paycheck are struggling to make ends meet, and here’s the NFL receiving unfair subsidies. What can be done to fix this imbalance?
The NFL is a massive entity that generates billions in revenue every year. It’s important to remember that, although they may need some funding from taxpayers, it shouldn’t be excessive. After all, isn’t it supposed to be the taxpayers who ultimately benefit from their money being spent?
It may be time to look into fairer arrangements to make sure that our tax money is being used wisely. It should be about making sure that the money is going towards the things that will benefit the public the most, not lining the pockets of already-wealthy entities.
